The 1939 Lucien Lelong Perfume Vintage Passionnement Presentation Empty Box is a rare and collectible item that showcases the craftsmanship and elegance of French perfumery. After quite extensive research, I have been unable to find another example of this wooden presentation box. My supposition is that since the scent PASSIONNEMENT was initiated in 1939 at the beginning of WWII, perhaps Lelong designed this wooden presentation box as something soldiers could buy for their wives or sweethearts back home, and the sturdy box would assure that the gift made it safely to its destination. Lelong’s history shows that he was very active working with the French government at the beginning of the war to keep the French people employed during those difficult times and creating such a sturdy little hand tacked box, he could keep his workers busy - just my supposition.
