This is an original war art album “Daitoa Sensō Gashū” (Greater East Asia War Art Collection), published in 1942 (Showa 17) during wartime Japan.
The album was supervised by Domoto Insho (1891–1975), one of the leading figures of the Kyoto art world, later honored with the Order of Culture. His involvement makes this publication highly significant, bridging Japanese fine art and wartime propaganda.
It contains 12 large-format color plates depicting battle scenes: infantry charges, jungle warfare, artillery fire, and pilots preparing for sorties. These are not simple records, but official artworks created by Japanese painters under military commission, reflecting both the aesthetics and ideology of the time.

“Daitoa Sensō” (Greater East Asia War) was the official wartime term used by Japan for the Pacific War (1941–1945). This term framed the conflict as a struggle for a new Asian order, and it was central to Japanese propaganda of the era.
