Woolson, last Union Army veteran of the Civil War, still speaks in a booming voice that belies his recent bouts with lung congestion. The former drummer boy has outlived 2,675,000 of the Boys in Blue.Albert Henry Woolson was the last known surviving member of the Union Army who served in the American Civil War; he was also the last surviving Civil War veteran on either side whose status is undisputed.
