1966 John E Hand Wrist Compass MK I MOD I US Military SCUBA Diving 6605-079-0007 For Sale

Original John E. Hand & Sons Wrist Compass MK I MOD I, dated 10/66 and marked 6605-079-0007. This stock number corresponds to NSN 6605-00-079-0007, documented as a submersible wrist compass and listed in U.S. military equipment documentation as a compass for open-circuit SCUBA diving equipment. Federal catalog records associate the model with U.S. Navy drawings 400-533976/400-533977. Compass responds to direction changes and appears to operate properly; accuracy and underwater performance have not been tested. It is marked “15.5 MC PM147” for Promethium-147 radioactive luminous material. The luminous markings fluoresce under 365nm UV light, as shown in the photos; no representation is made regarding original self-luminous performance or remaining radioactive activity. Top half of compass spins/turns 360 degrees. Includes the fabric wrist strap shown. Strap originality to this compass is unknown.
