Complete limited-edition photographic portfolio featuring the work of legendary 19th-century photographer Mathew Brady. This is number 591 of only 2,500 sets produced.
Complete with all 11 photographic prints, representing ten prominent 19th-century Americans: Abraham Lincoln, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Samuel F. B. Morse, William Tecumseh Sherman, Henry Ward Beecher, P. T. Barnum, Edwin Booth, David Glasgow Farragut, Mary Todd Lincoln and Oliver Wendell Holmes. Abraham Lincoln is represented by two photographs.
The photographs were produced from original glass negatives in the Frederick Hill Meserve Collection. Each mounted portrait bears the subject's facsimile signature and an embossed Mathew Brady Gallery / Meserve Collection seal, hand-numbered 591/2500. The portfolio also includes the striking large-format Abraham Lincoln portrait.
The certification page states that all photographs in the portfolio were printed from the original glass negatives in the Frederick Hill Meserve Collection and is signed by collection trustee Dorothy Meserve Kunhardt.
