Original The New York Times printing/production plate dated Sunday, January 27, 1991.
The plate features a large waving American flag with the patriotic message:
“GOD BLESS AMERICA, THE LAND THAT WE LOVE.”
The date is particularly interesting historically. January 27, 1991 fell during the opening weeks of Operation Desert Storm, and patriotic imagery was prominent nationally during the Gulf War. January 27 was also the date of Super Bowl XXV in Tampa, remembered for its especially patriotic atmosphere during the war.
This piece came from the personal collection of an individual who worked for The New York Times, providing interesting newspaper-industry provenance.
This appears to be an authentic New York Times printing/production plate rather than a reproduction poster. The upper margin is printed:
“THE NEW YORK TIMES, SUNDAY, JANUARY 27, 1991”
Also marked Y 9 in the upper-right corner.
