For sale is a beautiful, vintage matching pair of hand-painted porcelain figurines from the postwar Occupied Japan era, made between 1945 and 1952. Produced by Orion, this pair features two 18th-century Victorian or Baroque style court musicians. One figurine depicts a gentleman in an elegant cobalt blue coat playing a lute or mandolin, and the other shows a lady in a tiered ruffed crimson dress playing a tambourine. Both figurines showcase intricate molded ruffling, delicate floral patterns on the skirts, and classic gold gilt accent trim throughout.The undersides of both bases are clearly stamped with the red \"Orion / Made in Occupied Japan\" backstamp. Both pieces are in great vintage shape with zero large structural cracks or hairline fractures. There is minor, authentic age-related shelf wear, light rubbing to the gold gilt highlights on the high points of the porcelain ruffles, and a tiny glaze flea-bite on the outer rim of the lady\'s skirt ruffle, which is very common for ceramics of this era.
