This listing is for 2 rough slabs of Sonoran Plume Agate. Sonoran Plume Agates originated from the Sierra Madre Occidental mountain range, on the boundary of the Sonoran Desert in Chihuahua, Mexico. They are known for their bright red to orange colored plumes suspended in a solid agate matrix. The best pieces show vivid, high-contrast multi-colored red plumes with great dimensional depth. This material is no longer being mined, making this both rare and collectible. These slabs feature a green matrix, with bright red colored plumes in a white to light blue agate. The plumes are incredibly clear and give the agate a 3D look. No known flaws. The bigger slab has a taper from 8mm-6mm. I\'ve shown a photo of this one lying flat so you can see what you\'re working with. The smaller slab is 7mm thick. These are high grade pieces that can be added to a collection or polished for display. They can also be used for lapidary to make cabochons. Note for Lapidary: The green matrix is rhyolitic ash, which is coarse and grainy. It\'s beautiful, but it will need to be stabilized if you plan to cab it.
