π DESCRIPTION
This substantial 2005 George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney Presidential Inaugural Medal commemorates their second inauguration on January 20, 2005. The large 70mm format, sculpted portrait work, Presidential Seal reverse, and bronze construction give this example the presence expected from a full-size presidential table medal rather than the smaller 38mm version. Contemporary inaugural-medal references identify the 70mm bronze as one of the recognized formats struck for the 2005 inaugural program.
The obverse carries Gladys Gunzerβs overlapping profiles of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard B. Cheney, surrounded by SECOND INAUGURATION β’ JANUARY 20, 2005. The Smithsonian notes that including the vice president alongside the president became a tradition on second-term inaugural medals, and identifies Gunzer as the artist responsible for the 2005 double portrait.
The reverse displays the Presidential Seal in deep relief, surrounded by the names of President Bush and Vice President Cheney and the inscription INAUGURATED TO SECOND TERM OF OFFICE β’ JANUARY 20, 2005. This Presidential Seal reverse identifies the later Type II configuration, which retained Gunzerβs original obverse while replacing the earlier eagle-and-flag reverse.
The edge provides another important identifying feature, marked Β©2005 MEDALCRAFT MINT - GREEN BAY WI BRONZE, directly identifying both the maker and composition. Medalcraft Mint of Green Bay, Wisconsin is documented as the medalist for the 2005 inaugural medal program.

π§ CONDITION & PHOTO NOTES
This large 2005 Bush-Cheney inaugural bronze medal retains deep portrait and Presidential Seal relief, sharply defined lettering, an even antiqued finish, and only minor surface and edge marks visible from prior handling and storage. The raised details remain strong across both sides, with the Medalcraft Mint edge lettering clearly readable.
The substantial 2.74-inch format presents especially well in hand or on display, with the antiqued bronze finish providing strong contrast throughout the recessed lettering and sculpted portrait work.
As with most pre-owned collectible medals, light evidence of handling, display, storage, or age may be present. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description and provide the best representation of the exact medal you will receive.
πΈ Photos are taken under high-intensity lighting to highlight fine details, sculpting, and finish. This lighting may reveal minor surface characteristics that are often less noticeable during normal display.
