ONE OF ONE. HAND-DRAWN. DOUBLE-WIDE. CHEWIE SAVING THREEPIO ON CLOUD CITY.
This is an official Topps panorama sketch card from 2015 Topps Star Wars Illustrated: The Empire Strikes Back, hand-drawn by Jared Hickman. It\'s not a print or a reproduction. It\'s a true one-of-a-kind piece of original Star Wars art, and nobody else will ever own this card.
Panorama sketches are the big ones. This is a 5\" x 3.5\" fold-out card, twice the width of a standard sketch card, so the artist gets a full two-panel canvas to work with, and Hickman uses every inch of it.
The scene is pure Empire. Chewbacca cradles C-3PO\'s gold head in the Cloud City junk room, seconds after finding his friend blasted to pieces. The art is done in loose, expressive ink with grey washes, and the metallic gold makes Threepio pop right off the card. Chewie\'s face sells the whole moment.
Jared Hickman is an LA-based illustrator who has drawn official sketch cards for Topps Star Wars and Upper Deck Marvel. His work is all about emotion and movement, and you can see it in every line here.
The back is the official Topps \"Congratulations!\" sketch card back, signed by Jared Hickman in the Featuring art by box, with the Topps tracking code.
