Title: Lot of 2 Vintage 1943 WWII Bulgarian Army Soldiers Snapshots - Uniform Group - FREE SHIPPING
Description:
Up for sale is a compelling matching pair of two (2) original vintage black and white snapshot photographs dated 1943. This cohesive military collection documents soldiers serving in the Bulgarian Army during the height of World War II, beautifully illustrating wartime field dress, uniform variations, and camaraderie.
Both prints feature elegant mid-century deckle (scalloped) borders.
The lot includes:
1. Soldier Pyramid Group Portrait: A fantastic outdoor group shot of soldiers posing together in a loose human pyramid formation on a windswept hill. The men are wearing various standard-issue winter military gear, including heavy double-breasted overcoats, peaked caps, side caps (pilotka style), and service belts, with other military personnel visible gathering in the distant background.
2. Barracks Building Portrait: A sharp full-length portrait of a young Bulgarian soldier standing at attention outside a stone barracks or field hut with a corrugated panel roof. He is impeccably outfitted in a tailored long overcoat, leather service belt, combat boots, and a peaked service cap with a cockade emblem.
Front & Back Inscriptions (Cyrillic Script / Dated 1943):
• The single soldier photo features a handwritten name or caption at the bottom margin: "мл. поручик..." (Junior Lieutenant...).
• The reverse side of the group photo contains a prominent handwritten inscription in vintage Bulgarian cursive script providing exact historical context: "Предъ палатката 29 XII 43 год." (In front of the tent, December 29, 1943).
• The back cardstock also features a faint, authentic watermark repeating the vintage photo paper brand name „GIDAY“.
Size:
• Approx. 4.33 × 3.15 inches (11 × 8 cm) each
Shipping:
• FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE included! Safely packed flat with rigid cardboard protection inside a protective sleeve to ensure they arrive in pristine condition without bending during international or domestic transit.
Condition Notes:
• Pre-owned, vintage condition.
• Solid image clarity and excellent, crisp mid-century silver-gelatin contrast across both photos.
• Shows typical minor corner softening, edge ruffling, and natural uniform age-toning on the reverse paper stock consistent with an 83-year-old wartime collection.
