Beautiful small hand-carved Chinese Budai, also known as the Laughing Buddha, carved from genuine calcitic coral material. The figure features a smiling Budai with rounded belly, flowing robes and sack. Water Displacement Reading: 16.0 grams
Calculated Specific Gravity: Approx. 2.58This specific gravity is consistent with calcitic coral.Based on its appearance, color zoning, density and physical characteristics, the material is believed to be Pacific precious coral, possibly Momo coral (Pleurocorallium elatius) or a related coral species.
