ANTIQUE RARE NATIVE AMERICAN SHELL GORGET NECKLACE. Up for sale is a rare great old antique Native American shell gorget necklace. The gorget was purchased as part of a large private Native American collection in northern New Mexico awhile back. The shell is approximately 6 5/8\" across the widest portion, 2 1/4\" at the bottom where it hangs, 4 5/8\" measured on the inside from tip to tip and 3/16\" at the thickest portion. The woven necklace portion appears to be some type of a fibrous material. I did not want to untie it for fear of possibly damaging it. Not sure what the material is exactly.
