Fresh from an estate is a wonderful 16" diameter blade Westinghouse brass blade and brass cage antique fan that was manufactured in the early 1910s. Referred to as a "tank motor" because the fan was built like tank (!), with a cast iron base, motor housing, and struts. As such, the build quality of the fan is outstanding -- and very heavy.
The fan is model 60679 and features 16" diameter solid brass blades and cage, along with brass accents (motor nuts and oilers).
Cosmetic ConditionThe fan is in excellent cosmetic condition, especially given its roughly 115 years old, with age appropriate wear. The original paint is well preserved, with minor paint loss, scruffs, scrapes, and oxidation here and there. The cage is in excellent condition. The blade has a few minor dings (see pic), but they don't significantly impact the blade balance. The set screw for the blade is missing, as is the switch. Please closely inspect the pictures for a visual representation of the fan's cosmetic condition.
Operating ConditionThe fan was originally a two speed model (high / low). Given the switch is missing, the fan was tested direct (using the cut wire to the motor) and the fan operated smoothly and well.
Approximate dimensionsThe fan's height is 19.75", width is 17", and depth is 10.5".
Please note: in some photos there may be a very faint vertical yellow-ish line on the left third of the photo. This is an issue with the camera, the line is not evident on the fan!
This is an excellent example of a Westinghouse tank motor fan, and with a switch and blade set screw, will be nearly as good as new.
Rest assured the fan will be expertly and meticulously packed - the blade and cage will be removed and boxed and packed separately from the motor/base. Everything will be securely wrapped with 2-3 layers of bubble-wrap, double-boxed, and very securely packed. Please see my response to learn how much clients appreciate the time and care I take in packing their items. Because of the two separate boxes and weight of the motor/base, shipping will run higher than normal.
