Antique 1900s Girls Mounted Photo Balamotis Rallis Lowell MA Fetco Silver Frame:
$49.99

Two young women look directly through the camera from more than a century ago, dressed in elaborate high-necked lace and plaid garments with enormous ribbon bows, a striking original portrait from America’s Edwardian era.

The sepia photograph is mounted on heavy photographic cardstock and bears an important studio stamp on the reverse. The stamp includes the word “HELLAS,” Greek lettering, crossed American and Greek flags, and addresses at 685 Merrimack Street in Lowell, Massachusetts, and 44 Spruce Street in Manchester, New Hampshire.

Historical research identifies the business as Balamotis & Rallis Co., a Greek-American photographic concern documented at the Lowell address in a 1907 United States and Canada Greek business directory. The clothing, hairstyles, photographic presentation, and documented studio address suggest a possible date of approximately 1907–1915; an exact date has not been confirmed. The identities and relationship of the two young women are unknown.

The photograph is displayed in a later Fetco Home Decor silver-tone metal frame with a softly brushed finish and dimensional beveled profile. The frame may be displayed vertically or horizontally using its easel back or corresponding hanging loops. The easel retains its original limiting strap and has not been maker: Fetco Home Decor

They left no names behind, only two unwavering faces and a studio stamp connecting them to an early Greek-American community in New England. This is more than an old photograph in a frame; it is a surviving fragment of immigrant history, personal identity, and a relationship whose story has otherwise disappeared. For the collector who wants an object with genuine presence and a mystery still waiting to be explored, there will never be another exactly like it. Bring these remarkable women home and become the next keeper of their story.
