Up for sale is an Antique 1902 Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Princeton University Charles E. Rieman Mug, measuring approximately 4-3/8" tall.
This early German-made university mug features the Princeton University orange-and-black shield, the Latin motto “Dei Sub Numine Viget,” the dates 1892 and 1902, and the name Charles E. Rieman across the front. The bottom is marked Villeroy & Boch – Mettlach – Made in Germany.
This is a very interesting early piece of Princeton University memorabilia and appears to have been made as an alumni or reunion commemorative mug.
Condition: Excellent condition for its age. There are no chips or cracks. It shows normal wear from over the years, including some paint loss and surface wear to the Princeton crest and decoration, as shown in the photos. The handle is solid and the mug displays very well.
A great piece for collectors of Princeton University memorabilia, antique college collectibles, Villeroy & Boch pottery, or early German-made ceramics.
