Antique E&J Bass "Empire Art Gold" Jeweled Vanity Box / Compact (c. 1920s)Maker Mark: Stamped "E&JB" on the bottom rim.Up for sale is a beautiful, highly collectible piece of early 20th-century vanity history. Manufactured by the renowned E & J Bass Inc. (New York) prior to 1930, this piece comes from their premium "Empire Art Gold" line.It features an incredibly ornate, heavy gold-tone ormolu brass lid decorated with intricate Art Deco scrolling and openwork filigree. Centered perfectly on the lid is a striking, large, bezel-set Czech glass rhinestone in a deep ruby red color that brilliantly catches the light.
