For sale is an authentic 19th-century military cavalry trooper sword, designed in the classic French Model 1822 / US Model 1840 pattern with a heavy curved blade, three-branch brass basket hilt, and heavy steel scabbard.

• Blade: Robust curved single-edged carbon steel blade featuring a wide fuller along the spine. Shows scattered honest age patina, light surface mottling, and historical wear consistent with mid-to-late 19th-century service. Tip and edge remain well-defined.
• Hilt & Guard: Heavy cast brass cavalry basket with three branches (main knuckle bow plus two sweeping side bars), down-turned rear quillon, and a stepped pommel cap. The wooden grip core is wrapped in dark leather with its twisted brass wire wrap intact.
• Scabbard: Original all-steel scabbard with two suspension bands and loose carrying rings, terminating in an asymmetric drag. Shows an authentic untouched aged patina with minor surface oxidation. The sword seats smoothly and securely.
• Markings: Faint arsenal/maker inspector stamps present on the ricasso and guard, partially smoothed by historical service and age.
