Up for sale is this beautifully preserved hand-carved wooden santos depicting St. Vincent Ferrer.In traditional Spanish Colonial/ Latin American art, this Saintis almost always depicted as a Dominican friar with wings and biblereferencing his title as the "Angel of the Judgment". It likely dates from the 19th century based on the missing pegged hand, pegged head, worn polychrome, evidence of its hand-carved one solid piece of wood construction (except for pegged parts, wings, and lower pedestal) and traditional construction methods. It stands atop a carved globe and pedestal base.Condition Report:

• Pegged Hands and Head: In keeping with its age and traditional construction, one of the hands is currently missing. Hands and heads were originally separate pieces attached via wooden pegs. This statue's head separates from the body (see pictures).
• Wings: As often found, the full wings are missing yet details show how they were attached. A nail remains that may have attached the wing to the body.
• Pedestal Base: See pictures as the statue and it globe bottom are not solidly attached to the flat pedestal. A nail from the pedestal base is used to hold the statue, yet the statue can easily be removed from it. It does not interfere with the Statue's integrity to stand on its own, however see pictures as the statue leans backward from the wear of the attachment location.
• Paint & Surface: See photos for age-related wear to the painted/gesso surface, its cracks, chips and other losses.No restoration has been performed by the current owner. The paint is still bright and carving detailed.
