Up for sale/sale is a beautiful, authentic 19th-Century European Hunting Dagger (Hirschfänger / Dress Hanger Sidearm), complete with its original leather scabbard. This piece displays textbook mid-to-late 1800s craftsmanship, likely originating from a premium blade-making guild in Germany (such as Solingen) or France.Design & Features:Hilt Assembly: Features a hand-fit S-curved brass crossguard with stylized finials and a classic fluted clam shell guard (muschelgegenblech). The fluted "melon" shaped brass pommel cap is secured via an authentic, hand-peened through-tang construction.Grip: Features a tightly wrapped, alternating dual-strand wire grip, indicative of a formal dress uniform or high-ranking official's sidearm.Blade: Stiff, diamond-section forged steel blade designed primarily for thrusting.Scabbard: Original brown leather scabbard featuring matching brass fittings and a mounting stud.Markings: A distinct rectangular workshop/inspector stamp is deeply struck on the flat side of the crossguard near the hilt.Condition Report:This is a genuine historical antique showing a magnificent, untouched patina.
