Large antique American flag bearing 45 stars, dating to the period of Utah statehood through Oklahoma admission, 1896 to 1908. Measures 92 by 57 inches, consistent with a civic parade or building display flag.
Construction is wool bunting throughout, with red and white stripes sewn as separate panels and joined at the seams. Stars are individually machine-appliquéd onto the navy wool canton in the staggered row pattern standard to the period. The open weave bunting, oxidized colorway, and mixed red wool and white muslin stripe construction are all consistent with late 19th to early 20th century American flag manufacture.
Original natural canvas header is present and intact, retaining its wrought iron hanging ring with hand-knotted cord attachment. This pre-grommet hardware is a significant period authenticity marker and relatively uncommon to find intact on flags of this age.
Condition is honest and consistent with over a century of age. Moth damage and small holes present throughout, most notably in the white stripes. Fraying at the fly end. Some soiling and staining on the red stripes. Period repair patches visible on several white stripes, made during the flag’s working life. All condition details are documented in photos.
The flag retains strong visual presence and structural integrity. The canton is sound. Original hardware is complete.
