James Macintyre & Co was a china and earthenwaremanufacturer at the Washington Works, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England.

Macintyre & Moorcroft:

In 1897 Macintyre & Co. Ltd employed William Moorcroftas a designer, and within a year he was put in full charge of the company's artpottery studio as Chief Designer.

William Moorcroft's earliest pieces at Macintyre were theAurelian Ware which were partly decorated with transfers and partly painted byhand. Moorcroft developed highly lustered glazes and used oriental shapes anddecorations. Aurelian Ware eventually evolved into the 1902 Florian Waredesigns.

Moorcroft’s innovative range of pottery, called FlorianWare, was a great success and won him a gold medal at the St. LouisInternational Exhibition in 1904.
