Mrs. Poole was way before her time. In the 1890’s Mattie Poole was The Name in hand painted China.
Mattie Poole operated an Art Store where she taught the fine art of hand painting China to locals.
Her items are marked MW Poole as this candle holder is marked or Mrs Poole, SD Poole.
Her original Studio is still standing on 5th Ave., Moline, Illinois.
She was a great example of a woman in business in the late 1800’s!
Her work is becoming harder to find. This tall candle holder was found at an Estate. It is in good condition. Hand painted and signed. A very lovely collectible display item.
