Up for sale is a beautifully preserved, authentic antique solid brass single bookend or desk stationery holder manufactured by the renowned **Benedict Manufacturing Company** of East Syracuse, New York. This piece belongs to their highly collectible **"Karnak Brass"** line, which was originally launched circa 1911. While the line is traditionally known for Egyptian Revival aesthetics, this scarce design features an incredible, heavy-relief applied brass flying dragon (or griffin) motif centered on a flared, heavy-gauge bent brass plate. The underside of the base is sharply stamped with the official Benedict diamond logo, reading **"BENEDICT / KARNAK BRASS / 560"**. This is one piece only.
This piece is in antique condition with an incredibly rich, dark natural aged patina. It has been deliberately left unpolished to preserve its historic value and original finish. There are wonderful traces of authentic green verdigris oxidization nested perfectly along the perimeter of the applied dragon emblem. The metal structure is straight and solid with no cracks, major dents, or structural damage. Surface shows honest shelf wear and scratching consistent with a 100+ year old functional desk piece. Please see photos for overall conditions.
