Charming antique birthday postcard featuring a rural countryside scene with a woman walking along a lane carrying baskets near thatched-roof cottages. The card is beautifully accented with ornate gold lettering and the birthday verse:
\"A happy Birthday, dear, to you,
A happy year to follow, too.\"
The reverse retains its original 1¢ Benjamin Franklin stamp and a June 1912 postmark. Printed in Germany, this postcard represents the high-quality lithographic work that made German-made greeting postcards among the most desirable issues of the early twentieth century.
The card contains a handwritten message and mailing information, adding additional postal history interest. A wonderful addition for collectors of birthday postcards, cottage scenes, German postcards, and early 1900s ephemera.
