Antique Brass Postage Stamp Box Jugendstil Secessionist Desk Box c.1900 For Sale

Antique heavy brass desk box, believed to be a postage stamp box, dating approximately to the early 20th century.
The piece has a beautiful restrained Jugendstil / Secessionist design with finely lined geometric decoration on the lid. Its clean rectangular form, subtle ornament and small rounded feet give it a distinctive early modernist appearance.
Inside is an unusual removable curved brass insert. This type of shaped insert was used in period desk accessories and is consistent with antique postage stamp boxes, allowing small flat items such as stamps to be lifted more easily.
Despite its compact size, the box is surprisingly substantial and heavy, weighing approximately 349 g (12.3 oz).

The lid is hinged and opens normally. The removable inner insert is present.
There is a small stamped mark on the curved insert. I have not been able to identify the maker, so no specific manufacturer or country of origin is attributed.
Likely Central European manufacture, possibly German or Austrian, circa 1900–1915. The attribution and dating are based on the construction, materials and stylistic characteristics and should be considered an informed estimate rather than a documented provenance.
Condition:Good antique condition with age-related patina, surface scratches, darkening, oxidation and signs of use. The interior also shows natural age and wear. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
