Offered here is a fine antique bronze sculpture depicting a muscular male nude figure working a scythe, standing on a naturalistic base cast to resemble cut grass/reeds, mounted on a shaped green marble (verde antico) plinth. The bronze is signed \"Müller · Crefeld · Berlin\" along the rear edge of the base.
Adolf Müller-Crefeld was a German sculptor (1863–1934) who studied at the Academy in Antwerp from 1879–1882 before settling in Berlin. He exhibited at the Große Berliner Kunstausstellung in 1913 and the Munich Annual Exhibition (Glaspalast) in 1914. His work is known for dynamic, anatomically detailed figures — athletes, laborers, and mythological nudes — and is held in institutional collections including the Grohmann Museum.
