Antique RIO Tiel Holland brass tobacco and cigar container set, circa 1920s–1930s. Dutch-made matching three-piece set featuring TABAK and SIGAREN embossed containers with the original RIO TIEL HOLLAND maker’s mark.
Beautiful matching set of three early Dutch brass containers manufactured by RIO of Tiel, Holland. The underside bears the original impressed circular RIO / TIEL / HOLLAND maker’s mark.
The set includes a large container embossed “TABAK” (Dutch for tobacco), a smaller container embossed “SIGAREN” (cigars), and a third matching smaller container without lettering.
All three feature the same distinctive raised decorative frieze around the upper rim, flared bases and warm aged brass finish. These were originally made as smoking/tobacco accessories but also display beautifully today as decorative Dutch metalware, desk accessories or small storage vessels.
RIO was a Dutch metalware manufacturer based in Tiel and produced decorative brass and copper wares during the early 20th century.
Condition: Good antique/vintage condition with authentic age-related patina, surface scratches, rubbing, oxidation/discoloration and minor dents/irregularities consistent with age and previous use. Interiors show darkening and wear. These have not been polished, preserving their existing aged finish. Please review all photographs closely for condition.
