Authentic antique Chinese Shiwan (Shekwan) pottery ginger jar dating from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic period (circa 1880–1920s). This provincial earthenware vessel features a classic six-sided hexagonal form. Each side is molded in low relief with traditional botanical motifs and symbols celebrating the ginger harvest.
The jar is covered in a beautiful, thickly pooled emerald green glaze that showcases wonderful tonal variations, natural age crazing, and typical rustic kiln characteristics. It features a coarse, unglazed sandy-buff rim and base, complete with a faint, authentic impressed rectangular workshop seal stamp on the bottom.
**Condition Report:**
•Pottery: Excellent antique condition. Structurally sound with NO cracks, hairline fractures, chips, or restorations. Includes minor factory glaze skips and firing anomalies inherent to early Chinese folk pottery.
•Bamboo Basket: Shows age-appropriate wear and damage, including several broken and unraveled split-bamboo strands along the sides (please see all photos for exact details). Given the organic nature of the material, having the original carrier mostly intact is highly desirable and adds great rustic charm.
