Antique hand-fabricated copper canteen believed to date to the Civil War / mid-19th century era, circa 1850-1870.This unusual canteen measures approximately 9 inches tall x 6 inches wide and features a flattened oval body designed for carrying, a tall conical shoulder, threaded filling neck, opposed copper sling/strap loops, rolled reinforcing ribs, and prominent hand-soldered construction.The canteen is constructed from multiple pieces of sheet copper with a separately formed oval bottom, lower body, conical shoulder, and neck. Visible soldered seams and traditional fabrication methods are consistent with 19th-century utilitarian copper work.DETAILS:

Authentic age-related surface wear, oxidation/patina, scratches, small dents and irregularities throughout. The original threaded cap is MISSING. The upper lip/neck is bent and has loss/damage, clearly shown in the photographs. Soldering and seams show age and possible period or later repairs. No attempt has been made to polish, restore, straighten, or otherwise alter the canteen.The old copper surface and patina have been intentionally left untouched.IMPORTANT IDENTIFICATION NOTE:
