A rare and very pretty antique full eight piece vanity \"Boudoir Suite\" attributed to Moritz Zdekauer (MZ Austria) between 1884 and 1909 at the porcelain works in Altrohlan, Austria (now Stará Role in Czech Republic. This complete set is in very good overall condition throughout.
The pieces carry an incised script number of \"1528\" which is a factory set mould identifier. Most pieces also carry a printed number \"90\" which is the decorator\'s pattern number.
All pieces are hand decorated in iris motifs and complemented by gold gilt detailing.
The Art Nouveau Iris theme and styling of the incised script numbers indicate the set was most likely made around the turn of the century, 1895-1905.
The set comprises:
2 x Trinket/Powder Box with Lid. Size: Diameter 8.5cm, Height 5cm.
1 x Small Pin Tray. Size: Length 15cm, Width 11cm.
1 x Small Ring Tree Tray. Size: Length 13cm, Width 9cm, Height 6cm.
2 x Matching Candlesticks. Size: Diameter 9cm, Height 18cm.
1 x Hat Pin Holder. Size: Diameter 8cm, Height 12cm.
1 x Large Vanity Tray With Handles. Size: Length 32cm, Width 23.5cm.
Era: 1884-1909, probably 1895-1905.
Condition: In very good overall condition with no cracks, chips or crazing to any of the pieces. There is wear to the gilding, more on some pieces than others, always likely on items over 120 years old. There are two minor factory process anomalies, not post production damage.
1. A Candlestick rim features a tiny \"bubble burst dip\" in the upper rim formed during production and coated by the gilding process.
2. The Ring Tray rim features a small narrow firing kiln crack on the edge and is completely sealed over by the glaze.The photos form part of the description of condition. Please ask any questions before purchasing and not after, thank you.
