What makes this piece particularly special are the numerous highly visible gold-toned metal repair seams running vertically through the copper body. Rather than disguising its long history of use, the repairs have become one of the most visually compelling features of the vessel, creating an almost kintsugi-like effect against the deep aged copper surface.
The pot has a wonderfully rounded, bulbous form with a rolled rim, footed base and substantial loop handle attached with riveted copper plates. The surface retains a rich, uneven patina with areas of oxidation and verdigris, darkening, spotting and other evidence of considerable age and use.
