This classic flow blue piece features a deeply saturated blue transferware design. The central medallion on the lid depicts a serene landscape with figures looking toward architectural ruins across a river. The body and rim are wrapped in a dense, beautiful textile-inspired floral and geometric pattern typical of the era. The elegant handles on both the sides and the top of the lid feature matching blue accented scrollwork.
Measuring 10.5 inches from handle to handle, this is a magnificent statement piece for any collector of antique flow blue, Victorian ironstone, or English transferware.
Backstamp Details:The underside features the authentic, clear blue printed Doulton Burslem crown mark with the interlocking four-D emblem. It includes the word "England" and explicitly states the pattern name "MADRAS". There are also small hand-painted indigo blue potter/decorator marks alongside the main stamp. This specific backstamp firmly dates the production of this piece to the late Victorian era, between 1891 and 1902.
Condition Note:Beautiful antique condition! The interior of the bowl is exceptionally clean with a bright white glaze. No major cracks, heavy staining, or repairs. As expected with antique earthenware of this age, there may be light, uniform glaze crazing or minor manufacturing imperfections under close inspection, which only adds to its authentic historic character.
