Antique Duparquet-DH&M Copper Saucepan 18cm-7.125 in Diameter Fresh Tin 3lb 6oz:
$250.00

An antique Duparquet copper saucepan with a sturdy iron handle, robust oversized copper rivets, a hand-hammered finish, brazed seams on the bottom of the pan, and a fresh tin lining. This pan has two sets of markings to the right of the handle: a manufacturer’s stamp reading “D.H.&M Co NY 43 and 45 Wooster St” and a separate set of large hand-stamped “HBK” initials.

The D.H.&M stamp stands for Duparquet, Huot & Moneuse, an important New York manufacturer and supplier of professional kitchen equipment, ranges, and copper cookware. Based on the 43 and 45 Wooster Street address, this saucepan likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century, approximately the 1890–1916. I\'ve included a picture that shows the timeframes of the different stamps and addresses used by DH&M.

The “HBK” initials are especially interesting because they appear to have been individually hand-stamped rather than applied with a single prepared stamp. This likely indicates the mark had practical importance to the owner, possibly as an ownership or inventory mark for a hotel, restaurant, club, estate, or institutional kitchen.

There is no definitive link between this saucepan and any specific hotel, but based on the date range of the D.H.&M stamp, possible speculative interpretations of “HBK” could include Hotel Biltmore Kitchen, Hotel Bossert Kitchen, or Hotel Belmont Kitchen. This is only an informed possibility based on the available clues, not a confirmed attribution. Please reach out if you have additional questions and I will do my best to answer.

Dimensions of the saucepan are:Diameter of 18cm or 7 inchesSidewall height of 12cm or 4.75 inchesLength including the handle of 38cm or 15 inchesCopper thickness of 2.4mm measured at the rimWeight of 1.525kg or 3 pounds 6 ouncesCapacity of about 3 quarts
This is an antique item that has been used as intended and shows some evidence of age and prior use. The exterior of the pan has minor scratches and dings, and the bottom of the pan is slightly dented. These are cosmetic imperfections only and do not impair use. The pan has a fresh, clean tin lining, making it suitable for cooking while also serving as a wonderful historical display piece.
