Antique Flow Blue Handleless Cup And Saucer. Podmore Walker Or Wedgwood?:
$65.00

Below is what Google tells me about this piece. (It came out of a lot from an sale in Circleville, Ohio. The sale had a lot of nice antique pieces. You can message with questions and I appreciate offers)

-The "Handleless" Form (1830s–1850s): Tea bowls without handles fell entirely out of fashion in Western markets by the late 1850s. They were replaced by cups with handles as Victorian dining etiquette evolved.

-The Intensely Dark Cobalt Color: Early Victorian Flow Blue (1830s–1850s) is famously characterized by heavy, deep cobalt tones and dense, ornate Chinoiserie/Oriental transfer patterns. Later Victorian pieces (1880s–1900s) transitioned to lighter blue tones, realistic floral graphics, and finer semi-porcelain bodies.

-No Country of Origin Name: The backstamp lacks the word "England." The United States passed the McKinley Tariff Act of 1891, which legally required all imported ceramics to clearly state their country of origin. The absence of "England" confirms a pre-1891 manufacture date.

-The Style of the Pressed Stamp: The single-digit impressed workman's number ("1") corresponds directly to early-to-mid 19th-century production protocols utilized in Staffordshire, England potteries.

It does have a very dark blue flow. And lots of crazing. A few small mature chips please see pictures. Stand is not included.
