Antique Georgian Anglo-Irish Cut Glass 10" Covered Sweetmeat Urns Pair 1810

These over 200 Year Old Urns are in Very Good Antique Condition with no cracks or repairs. This beautiful matching pair of Georgian Anglo-Irish cut glass covered sweetmeat urns display exceptionally well with brilliant deep hand cut decoration and elegant early 19th century form.

NOTE:

Jar 1:

• Two small chips along the upper rim of the bowl
• One minor fleabite nick on the edge of the square base

Jar 2:

• One shallow sliver-style chip along the upper rim
• One larger chip on a corner of the square plinth base

These condition issues are consistent with authentic early Georgian cut glass and do not detract significantly from the outstanding display presence of the pair. We considered the condition of these urns while pricing them.  

ITEM DESCRIPTION

Outstanding pair of antique Georgian Anglo-Irish cut glass covered sweetmeat urns dating to approximately 1810. Each urn features a beautifully proportioned ovoid body with extensive deep geometric hand cut decoration including diamond cutting, crosshatching, prism cutting, and vertical fluting.

The urns retain their original matching pointed finial lids and stand on elegant pedestal stems over square plinth bases. The heavy lead glass construction and crisp hand cut surfaces create exceptional brilliance and light reflection throughout the bodies.

These early 19th century covered urns would originally have been used as sweetmeat or confectionery containers and today make exceptional display pieces for fine antique glass collections, Regency interiors, or formal table decoration.

A scarce matched pair with outstanding early Anglo-Irish craftsmanship and strong Georgian display presence.

Very Good Antique Condition with No Cracks or Repairs.

Both urns display beautifully with excellent clarity, strong cutting, and only age-appropriate wear consistent with authentic early 19th century use.

The elegant urn forms, pedestal stems, and square plinth bases are characteristic of refined Regency period table glass from the early 19th century. The brilliant hand cut surfaces create exceptional sparkle and strong visual depth throughout both pieces.

 

These measure 10" High x 3 5/8" Wide rim to rim. I have provided a lot of pictures to best describe the condition of these Urns.
