A mystery antique, hand-forged tomahawk head from a Texas estate. It has decorative slashes on the sides and bottom. The tomahawk has an American style poll like many Revolutionary War-era hawks and axes.
The poll is unusual in that it has a round insert of some type on the hammer end, as if it were meant to be drilled for a pipe, or was partially drilled and then later plugged. It does not go all the way through the poll. I have went through all my books and not found a similar example -- I welcome your input.
The head is heavy, at 1 pound 7 ounces, and is about 5 1/2" in length with a 3 3/4" edge on the blade. The eye is oval at the top.
Good condition as shown with the main thing to note cleaning or brushing of the edge and blade in the past. Otherwise overall covered with old rust and patina. Displays really well. Guaranteed authentic for life.
A really nice and one of a kind tomahawk head and a superb addition to any collection. I ship every day the post office is open with your item safely packed for protection. I always combine shipping. Please see my store for more museum quality artifacts of history.
