Antique Imperial Russian Lacquer Trinket Box
Pre-1917 Chirikov & Co Lyubatovich
MAN WITH 2 WHITE HORSES
Beautiful box in great condition.
This is an authentic Antique Imperial Russian Lacquer Trinket Box originating from the pre-revolutionary era of the Russian Empire, dating approximately between 1890 and 1917
It was crafted by the prestigious Shareholder Society of Lyubatovich, Chirikov & Co.
The lid features a meticulously detailed, hand-painted miniature folklore scene depicting a young man leading two white horses through a stylized autumn forest.
The main body is constructed from highly polished, natural high-gloss burl wood. Fine, painted gold filigree scrollwork decorates the outer rims of the lid and lower base opening to reveal a clean, high-gloss lacquered wood interior.
PROOF OF AUTHENTICITY
The gold calligraphic inscription inside the lid contains the archaic Cyrillic letter \"Yat\" (Ѣ)
Because this character was permanently banned during the Bolshevik alphabet reforms of 1917–1918, it serves as an ironclad historical timestamp proving the box was made during the Imperial era.
Additionally, the \"Shareholder Society\" corporate status denotes a private capital venture from the Czarist mercantile guild period, which was entirely nationalized or disbanded immediately following the 1917 revolution.
