DESCRIPTION
Wonderful early 19th century antique blue dinner plate by James and Ralph Clews of Staffordshire, England. Shows a walking man and a woman riding on a donkey, leaving classical ruins and landscape scenery in the background. Impressed verso with \"STAFFORDSHIRE / WARRANTED,\" and with a blue Clews logo reading \"Stone China.\" Tripod drying marks plainly visible.
The Clews Brothers were active in Staffordshire from about 1818 to 1834,producing some of the most desirable early English transferware.
CONDITION
Overall excellent antique condition. No chips, repairs, crazing or cracks evident. Rich bright blue color (all visible in the images). A FINE EARLY 19TH CENTURY BLUE TRANSFERWARE ENGLISH DINNER PLATE IN GREAT CONDITION!
