Antique J.W. Cameron & Co. Ltd. beer or mineral water bottle from West Hartlepool, County Durham, England, dating to the late Victorian or early Edwardian period, approximately 1895–1910s.
Made from heavy dark olive-green glass with strong raised embossing reading “J.W. CAMERON & CO. LTD. WEST HARTLEPOOL.” The glass has attractive waviness, bubbles and manufacturing irregularities typical of early molded bottles.
A particularly nice feature is the original matching vulcanite internal screw stopper, also marked for J.W. Cameron & Co. / West Hartlepool. The stopper remains intact and screws securely into the original internal glass threads. Period archaeological finds document vulcanite screw stoppers from Cameron’s West Hartlepool brewery.
The bottle shows expected age-related surface wear, scratches, haze and residue but displays very well. No obvious major cracks or significant damage visible in the photos. The stopper has natural age-related oxidation and patina.
A desirable early English brewery bottle, especially with its original matching branded stopper still present.
