A striking set of 3 antique Japanese blue and white underglaze porcelain (Sometsuke) plates dating to the late 19th century Meiji period.
Each plate features a piecrust crimped edge accent with a rich brown glazed rim and impressed square artisan seal mark on the reverse. Beautiful gradated sizes make this set ideal for wall hanging displays, cabinet collection, or Asian art decor.
11" Large Charger: Features central floral roundel surrounded by poetic calligraphic verse medallions set against a detailed geometric key lattice pattern.
9.5" Medium Plate: Features two detailed Phoenix (Hō-ō) birds among foliage and plum blossom background.
7.5" Small Plate: Features a dramatic single flying Phoenix bird centered in scrollwork.
