This antique Japanese Musha Ningyo (samurai warrior doll) traditionally displayed for Boys' Day (Tango no Sekku) depicts the legendary statesman Takenouchi no Sukune, revered for his wisdom and great longevity.
The doll is beautifully dressed in an intricate brocade silk court robe featuring woven gold, purple, and green patterns, complete with a traditional black court cap (eboshi). The face features realistic inset glass eyes, fine details, and a long white beard.
The doll holds a removable miniature katana sword with a textured hilt and guard. The entire piece sits on a black lacquered wooden display base.
Condition Notes:
The doll is in good antique condition with age-appropriate wear. There is a small crack/chip visible near the doll's right eye, as shown in the close-up photos. The silk textiles show some minor fading and light surface dust consistent with age but remain structurally intact.
