Antique Native American BEADED GAUNTLET GLOVES 13\" Deerskin Beaver For Sale

This vintage authentic pair of Native American BEADED GAUNTLET GLOVES, 13\" long, are made of soft deerskin suede, real rabbit or beaver fur accents, hand-sewn glass seed beads, suede fringe, and a red satin lining. The pair was found in a box at an estate sale in Colorado. It is a unique collectible item that embodies the rich cultural heritage of Native American tribes.

Exact age, tribe and maker unknown. From a viewer:Probably Cree/Metis/Plateau, all around same area of N Plains or Plateau up around the Canadian border area. Judging from the beads, probably 1920--30, and that is most likely beaver fur which was typically used as trim on these.

Beware of contemporary, commercially-made imitations.

Condition: These gloves have not been cleaned or repaired in any way. The deerskin is still soft and suptle with no holes or excessive wear. The beadwork is equisite, vibrant in color and completely in tact. The lining is in good condition. The rabbit fur accents are worn and fragile (see photos). Selling AS IS.
