Antique, circa 1910 Nippon hand painted porcelain tea cup & saucer in excellent condition, hallmarked on the bottom in green Hand Painted, Nippon, "M" (Morimura Brothers) within a wreath in green.
The Morimura Bros. Co. in Japan was the major producer of "Nippon" and Noritake porcelain during this time period. Nippon is a westernized version of "Ni hon" meaning Japan. Pieces were required to have a mark from their country of origin for export after the McKinley Tariff Act of 1890.
