For your consideration is an authentic porcelain plate used at the "Breakfast for the President" on "Sept. 16, 1911". The president at this time was President William H. Taft and the breakfast was held at the Onondaga Hotel in Upstate New York. At the time, the Onondaga had only been open for just less than a year and was quite luxurious, even by New York City standards. The breakfast was one of the first stops on his 1911 cross-country tour.
The plate depicts a hand-painted and gilt pre-1912 version of the Army Presidential color (flag) in its center with a red background. The all rims and raised portions of the plates are gilded. The bottom of the plate carries the commemoration statement reading "Syracuse Chamber Of Commerce Breakfast To The President of the United States Sept. 16, 1911 "The Onondaga".
