This is a hard-to-find piece of authentic American brewing history: a 110+ year old Schlitz Beer self-framed tin lithograph sign featuring the iconic Hits The Mark U.S. Cavalry Officer graphic. Rock Island appraised one of these signs (in better condition) at $2,000 - $3, 000.

Design Details:

This striking single-sided tin sign depicts a turn-of-the-century military officer raising a glass of Schlitz. It features the classic early typography reading Hits The Mark and Schlitz: The Beer That Made Milwaukee Famous. The lower margin bears the authentic manufacturer mark of the renowned Chas. W. Shonk Co.

Unlike modern flat aluminum reproductions, this is a heavy, authentic stamped tin piece with the original self-molded raised border frame.

Condition Notes:

This sign is in heavily weathered, barn-find estate condition. It exhibits significant surface rust, paint scaling, pitting, and heavy structural patina throughout the center image and along the borders. There is no modern restoration or touch-up paint; it features 100% original surfaces showing decades of real age. The hanging holes at the top rim are intact. The bottom corner of the self-framed border has a noticeable historic bend/crease as shown in the close-up photos. The metal remains stable and has not been altered or flattened to preserve the original integrity and paint finish. This rustic look is highly desired by collectors of authentic industrial country, bar, and man-cave decor!
