Up for sale/sale is a beautiful and highly collectible antique porcelain creamer and matching covered sugar bowl set by Philipp Rosenthal & Co. (R.C.). This set is from the sought-after "Monbijou" mold and features the rare purple transferware "Cameo" portrait design depicting Apollo Belvedere Roma.The pieces feature gorgeous, delicate scalloped fluting, elegant organic twig-style handles, and rich gold gilt accents over a soft cream porcelain ground. The base bears the green "Monbijou", "Cameo Germany", and crown R.C. backstamps.CONDITION REPORT – PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE offerDING:
Creamer: Excellent antique condition. No chips, cracks, or crazing. The gold gilding is bright and beautifully intact with only negligible shelf wear.Covered Sugar Bowl: The lid is in excellent condition. The bowl itself has a notable chip on the scalloped upper rim (please see the final close-up photo). The chip exposes the white porcelain beneath. There are no other cracks or repairs to the piece.Because of the rim chip on the sugar bowl, this set is priced heavily around the value of the pristine creamer, with the sugar bowl included essentially as a bonus placeholder piece for your collection. It still displays beautifully from the front!
