Antique Royal Doulton “Coaching Days” porcelain dinner/display plate, featuring one of the series’ classic English coaching scenes.
The scene depicts a horse-drawn stagecoach stopped along a country road, with attendants tending to the horses and passengers nearby. The detailed figures and coach are set against a softly rendered landscape with green hedgerows, tall trees, autumn foliage and a bright blue sky with white clouds.
The Coaching Days series is one of Royal Doulton’s evocative early 20th-century designs celebrating the era of horse-drawn coach travel in England. The decoration has a hand-painted and hand-finished appearance, with subtle variations and brushwork adding to its character.
The reverse bears the Royal Doulton England lion-and-crown backstamp as well as the painted pattern/design number E2768, as shown in the 10 1/2 in diameter.
Very good antique/vintage condition with light age-related surface wear consistent with age and display.
The painted scene remains colorful and attractive. From the photographs provided, I do not see any obvious chips, cracks or repairs. There may be light surface marks and minor manufacturing irregularities consistent with an older piece.
Please examine all photographs carefully as they are an important part of the description and provide the best representation of condition. Please bear in mind that the actual color of the item might be slightly different than shown in the photos due to variations in monitor and browser settings.
