Offered is an original antique Scovill & Adams Co., New York hardwood tripod with brass hardware, marked “PAT. JULY 31, 1883.” These quality tripods were used to support surveying instruments, transits, and large-format photographic cameras in the late 19th century. Scovill & Adams was a leading supplier of photographic equipment and accessories during this era.
The tripod has an attractive aged patina and retains its original brass hardware. It folds and extends smoothly.
Measurements:
* Collapsed: 32 1/2”
* Extended: 57 1/2”
Condition:
* Original antique condition with expected wear, scratches, and finish loss from age and use.
* One upper leg was cracked at some point and has been repaired with three screws (see photos). The repair appears solid and the tripod remains functional.
* Brass hardware shows an untouched aged patina.
* Please review all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description.
