TWO ANTIQUE SUGAR SHAKERS
This set of two sugar shakers (or muffineers) is being sold as a set.
The taller one is very unique and has a silver perforated lid that looks very Russian. I believe it was made in the late 1800s; it features a British hallmark of theLion Passant whichis the historic British standard mark that legally guarantees the item is solid sterling silver (92.5% pure silver), distinguishing it from silver-plated items.
There is also the letter "B" which likely means that it's made in England, where the "B" often signifies the Birmingham Assay Office (represented by an anchor) or serves as a specific date/maker's mark. Sadly this sugar shaker is chipped at the bottom in three places, which is shown in the photos.
The second sugar shaker has no markings on it. It is not as unique as the other taller one but it is in very good condition. I think the lid is silver-plate and not sterling silver.
